Adrian de la Fuentes
Photographer
I am a black and white photographer. I shoot strictly with film and develop at the 23HAM dark room studio. Because I like people and making new friends most of my photography revolves around portraits as my main subject. When encountering any relation with an individual I approach with the Martin Buber’s philosophy of the I-thou, where regardless of physical appearance and social beliefs, relationships are founded on the terms of a positive outlook in the spirit and mind. When taking pictures I am capturing the light between the individual and myself, the nature of light being that it portrays the emotions and psyche that reflects off all of us. Photography creates the perfect bond for capturing the reality within a moment. Regarding the intimacy with the subject, the dark room allows me the capacity of holding and distributing the light from the captured moment with my own hands, really investing the time and physical needs to create the perfect silver print portraying an individual.
